IVOR TWYDELL

Ivor is a coach and facilitator who specialises in conscious leadership. He uses his experience as a former UK senior police officer as well as theory and practice in executive coaching to help leaders and teams develop the strategies they need to focus and lead effectively, particularly in challenging high-stakes situations. His approach draws on mindfulness, voice dialogue, Gestalt and NLP to help his clients make sustainable positive changes whilst remaining grounded and pragmatic as leaders. He particularly specialises in conflict resolution at both an individual and team level, creating awareness, and driving alignment and effective collaboration in situations that were previously threatened by a breakdown in working practices and communication.

Having started his working life as a professional rock musician, in his mid-twenties he joined the UK police service where he was recognised for his calming presence and leadership skills and fast tracked into senior positions. Graduating from the UK Police Senior Command Programme he led the response to a number of critical incidents and emergencies, including serious crimes, public disorder and terrorist attacks.

Increasingly curious about the roots of effective and human-centered leadership, Ivor left the police in 2012 to become a coach and focus more on his own personal development. He has since worked with senior leaders and teams across a diverse range of sectors, both public and private. Clients include the BBC, G4S, QinetiQ, Aker, British Telecom, Magpie Studios, Endpoint Studios, Danone, Daiwa, Education Scotland, Greater Manchester Police and the NHS.

He also provides ongoing leadership development support to Live to Love International, a humanitarian charity focusing on the people of the Himalayan region set up by His Holiness the Gyalwang Drukpa, the head of the Vajrayana Buddhism Drukpa lineage.

Accredited as a Professional Certified Coach with the ICF, Ivor has trained extensively as a coach, including organisational and systems coaching, is a certified mindfulness teacher and a former Metropolitan Police and FBI trained hostage negotiator

He lives with his wife Diana in a restored 16th century manor house in Somerset, UK, where together they offer a life-enhancing space for immersive workshops and retreats and where he continues to write and record music in his garden studio
